VOICES 2017 - We didn't Expect That
This year exhibition marks the first showcase in a commercial gallery. It went great and we have received many positive reviews

In-School Showcase: Recyclable Materials
The school had an In-School showcase on the last week of the school year.
The pieces displayed approx. 26 hands-on hours of art activity by students, which is not considered many to experience by trial and error. And the fact that many did not process much art experience other than drawing, colouring and pasting added to the difficulty when it came critical thinking skills. Nonetheless, each student make great attempt to create what they have done through limitations over gross and fine motor-skills.
We started with 2D pieces of drawing and collage, these examples are at the bottom of the post. Very simply, we cut and paste pieces of fabric or parchment into a subject or composition.
Next, we did the quilt (above) that involved more pasting with fabric and cotton. Stitching was a new skill many were exposed to during this project. The students got better after the first session as they now had an experience of what stitching was. As we were preparing for the showcase, four students were in charge of joining each quilt (or felt square) together.
The final piece was the most challenging for the classes, that was to construct a 3D structure from plastic bottles. These plastic bottles we pre cut into odd shapes and required a bit of problem-sloving. When the structure was done, we did a collage with leftover fabric. All in all, everyone tried to recycle bits into something creative.
